Chateau Larmande, founded in 1585, is one of the oldest estates in Saint‑Émilion. Its 20‑hectare vineyard lies in a single block on the north slope of the appellation, providing excellent exposure and consistency of style. The terroir combines clay and limestone, siliceous clay, and ancient sands, giving both structure and finesse to predominantly Merlot‑based wines. Clay and limestone bring freshness, minerality and aging potential, while the sandier parcels add aromatic lift and supple texture. The estate’s winemaking emphasizes balance and elegance, aiming to express this varied yet coherent terroir with refined tannins and a classic Saint‑Émilion profile.
