In the heart of the Berry, Philippe Gilbert represents the ninth generation to steward this historic Menetou-Salon estate. A pioneer in the region, Philippe transitioned to biodynamic farming following the 2003 drought, seeking resilience through healthier soils. His philosophy centers on being a “vessel” for the terroir, allowing the Kimmeridgian clay-limestone—or Terres Blanches—to speak through his wines. Managing parcels of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, he utilizes manual harvests and natural rhythms to preserve mineral purity. From crisp, lees-aged whites to structured reds, Gilbert’s wines are “enabled” rather than forced, reflecting an open-minded approach that captures the authentic, vibrant emotion of this intimate micro-appellation.
