This summer, we are happy to introduce 2 new Organic producers from Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé.
This is not less than 6 new Sauvignon Blanc wines added to our range. Does it sound too much? Well, it was was in fact so difficult to choose, that we decided to offer you both producers!
Keep in mind that our selection is a work in progress, and even though we love all the wines that are brought to you, you are the ones who have the final word.
So take your pick!
Domaine du Bouchot
Domaine du Bouchot is located at the Eastern part of Loire Valley in the village of Saint-Andelain, on the right bank of the river facing Sancerre.
Family vineyard since 1966 and consisting of 10 hectares de Sauvignon, the Domaine du Bouchot was the first domaine In Pouilly Fumé to be Organic certified in 2009.
Antoine Gouffier took over the vineyard in 2018 after travelling around the world, he will introduce Biodynamic practises and will lead the domaine to its Demeter certification (Biodynamy) in 2021.
Each plot is vinified separately to express the singularity of its terroir and its biodiversity. The wines are naturally fermented with endogenous yeast and vinified in vats, barrels or amphoras depending on the cuvée.
Domaine du Nozay
Domaine du Nozay is located in Sainte-Gemme-en-Sancerrois, at the farthest North of the Sancerre Appellation, 8 kms away from the village of Sancerre. The estate consists of 15h of vines planted in the 70’s.
The vineyard is planted on “Terres Blanches” (white soils) which is ‘late-ripening’ terroir madee of Clay and Limestone.
Cyril de Benoist who is the 2nd generation at the estate and has been pushing organic and biodynamic practices. The estate was Organic certified in 2014, and it was also Demeter certified in 2017.
Interestingly, Genodie is used at the vineyard. This is a Music therapy that influences the proteins of the vines all the way to fermentation!
